Why I’m Tearing this Site Apart (and Hopefully Putting it Back Together)

Over the past six or eight months, I’ve written enough about songwriting to fill a book. Along the way, I’ve learned a lot about crafting songs, writing articles, and using a blog as my own printing press. I’ve written some wildly successful articles and some real clunkers, too.

Time to remodel.

I’m about to read, revise, and rethink my entire article archive. Here are the changes you may notice:

  • The really useful articles will be even better, and easier to find.
  • The not-so-useful articles will be scrapped and rewritten.
  • I’m completely rehauling the way articles are categorized, so you can find exactly what you want or browse around in areas of interest.
  • Old posts will receive new attention (and new eye candy).
  • Completely new features and sections. You’ll know ‘em when you see ‘em.

By the time I’m done, I’ll feel great about every article on this website, and the experience on your end should likewise improve.

If you’ve got any suggestions, or if there’s something you would change if this were your website, please let me know! I’m always open to new ideas.

Alright. Time to start tearing down the walls.

  1. Organizing web sites for easy navigation is HARD. I applaud you for wanting to get it exactly right, but I would recommend taking it in stages. And ask readers for feedback as you go! Also, if you know anyone who is good at UI pick his brain!! Anyway, your site looks good now, so I can’t wait to see where you take it.

Thanks for the cautionary words, Jeff! Yeah, this is a big job. I’m taking it on in little bites.

Love your blog. Your music sounds great! I’ll be in touch.
