Popular Lyric Writing is a songwriting textbook by songwriter Andrea Stolpe. It builds upon some ideas from Pat Pattison’s Writing Better Lyrics, but also introduces ingenious techniques and insights of Stolpe’s own. Once all of these techniques have been explained individually, Stolpe arranges them into a complete procedure for developing a new lyric entirely from scratch.

The title is misleading; this text is of interest to songwriters of all stripes, not just popular or commercial songwriters.
