The website you’re reading now didn’t have a proper title when I first launched it back in 2009. All I knew was that I wanted a place to write about songwriting. In the first few weeks, I was the site’s only reader.
Hundreds of thousands of readers have browsed the site since then. I’ve remodeled the site’s design many times, always trying to give you a reading experience that feels more calm and focused. Every few years, I’ve also changed the site’s title. Past names have ranged from the simple and descriptive to the odd and offbeat:
- The Halted Clock
- Song Written
Rewriting is the most vital part of writing, so I want to revise the site’s title one more time. Let’s call this place The Lyric Writer’s Workroom.
I like The Lyric Writer’s Workroom because it suggests that this is a place to actually write lyrics. I hope this site will become a kind of brightly-lit room, with organized rows of tools lying around for you to pick up and experiment with.
Although the site’s name and appearance are changing, I remain the site’s author and owner.
Welcome to a new chapter for this site, fellow songwriter. Welcome to The Lyric Writer’s Workroom. Thank you for reading.
Yours in song,
Nick at the Lyric Writer’s Workroom
